After earning his undergraduate degree at Auburn University, Dr. Miller was
commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine at
Tulane University School of Medicine and was promoted to Lieutenant. He interned at
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and completed his general surgery
residency and chief surgical residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Dr. Miller was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and assigned to Fleet Surgical Team
SEVEN. During his tour, he served as the sole general surgeon in support of all Pacific
fleet amphibious operations including acting Commander, Amphibious Squadron
Surgeon. During this role, he provided mission-critical surgical capabilities to the WASP
Amphibious Readiness Group and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. During this tour,
he earned his Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer qualification and was
awarded a Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal for his exemplary
service and dedication to duty. Dr. Miller then reported stateside to Navy Medicine
Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville, where he was the chair of surgery and
residency program liaison, and was elected the surgeon champion for quality. Under his
leadership, the hospital was awarded meritorious outcomes by the American College of
Surgeons. Because of his noteworthy accomplishments, he received a Navy
Commendation Medal. Dr. Miller then completed his lifelong goal of training in
cardiothoracic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. After training, Dr. Miller was
recruited by Cardiac Surgical Associates, the largest practice of its kind in the United
States. Dr. Miller is married with three children. His personal interests include sailing.
