Dr. Topalidis is a cardiothoracic Surgeon with Cardiac Surgery Associates, S.C.  He received his medical degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He then served in the Greek Airforce as a medical officer and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He completed his general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. In 2014, while still in training in cardiothoracic surgery, he was the recipient of the Richard C. Lillehei/Bakken Prize. He has expertise in coronary revascularization, valvular heart disease and arrhythmia surgery. In 2020 he was one of the recipients of the AATS James Cox fellowship award in atrial fibrillation surgery. Under the mentorship of Dr. Marc Gerdisch at Saint Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, he had the opportunity to enhance his knowledge of the pathophysiology of atrial fibrillation and had the ability to acquire technical proficiency in the Cox Maze IV procedure. Before joining CSA, he was one of the Staff Cardiothoracic Surgeons at Mercy Health in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is board certified in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is happily married and has three wonderful children.
